Mumbai: Stand-up comedy group AIB has cancelled its upcoming live tour owing to the controversy generated around its show 'AIB Knockout' last month.
'AIB Knockout' was a roast comedy show, starring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor as the roast and Karan Johar as the host (roast master).
The show, uploaded on YouTube, went viral on the site but invited flak from various sections of society for the use of expletives.
Police initiated an inquiry into a complaint against Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Singh. AIB pulled down the video due to the wide-spread criticism.
AIB took to Facebook to announce the cancellation of its tour, which was set to begin on March 7 in Pune.
"Regrettably, AIB is cancelling all shows of our Stage Forty-Two live tour that was scheduled to kick off in Pune on the 7th of March. Why? Because we've spent the last month and a half dealing with you-know-what... Sorry about this, but we'll be back soon. And with a completely new show at that," the statement read.
The group said the tickets would be refunded within seven days and shared that its next set of videos would be up soon.
"As always, we're super grateful for your support and we hope that the next time we get on stage, you guys will turn up, louder and happier than ever before. On the bright side, we're back to work now. Our next set of videos are already in production and will be out soon, so yay. Thank you once again," AIB wrote.
