Air India officials face action for malpractices in rostering

New Delhi: Air India employees in charge of rostering cabin crew for flights were being bribed to ensure that Delhi crew members were not being selected for flights during the last six months.

A government statement disclosed that Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh "has taken a serious note of the complaints of irregularities, corruption and malpractices in the Cabin Crew Roster Section of Air India and ordered penal action against the officials involved."

The officials were using their position to put certain people on flights to the Gulf countries while denying others a chance.

The management for the airline believes a computerised system for assigning crew for flights will check favouritism and corruption in this area.
