New Delhi:
After a meeting with the government, Air India's management has decided not to accept any new bookings. That announcement comes after passengers complained of total chaos at airports in different cities. They say they were not informed in advance that their flights had been cancelled.
The Air India Chairman, Arvind Jadhav, attended a meeting this morning with senior government officials and representatives of all major airlines. These other airlines were warned not to profit from the current crisis, and to help accommodate Air India passengers.
The Prime minister has already expressed his concern about the strike in a conversation Monday night with Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel.
Air India loses 300 crores a month. The current strike has been called by pilots after management decided to reduce special allowances for senior pilots by upto 50 per cent. These pilots are not unionized.
