
New Delhi:
Moving in to protect flying public, the government has decided that airlines will compensate passengers for delays and cancellations.
The new rule will be applicable from August 15.
According to the rule, the passengers have to be informed three hours in advance about cancellation of a flight. Failing that, the airline has to provide compensation for inconvenience.
Also, if passenger does not want to fly that day the airline has to provide a refund or make alternative travel arrangements at no extra cost.
Compensation amount will vary between Rs 2000-4000.
