New Delhi:
Dharmpal Natkhat, a Dalit member of the Congress, said today that the party's Delhi unit president Ajay Maken abused and threatened him.
Mr Natkhat told a TV channel that Mr Maken misbehaved with him, for which he should face punitive action.
He said he complained about Mr Maken's misbehaviour to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi when he visited and greeted him on his birthday on Sunday.
Later, he got a call from Mr Maken, who threatened him, Mr Natkhat alleged.
He said he has recorded Mr Maken's conversation with him but cannot tell the exact words the Congress leader spoke to him.
"I am a Congress worker and a Dalit. Is this why he (Ajay Maken) behaved like this with me?" Mr Natkhat said.
"I have a complaint to make to (Congress president) Sonia Gandhi. I want action to be taken against Maken for his misbehaviour," he said.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Vijender Gupta said Mr Natkhat's complaint shows that the Congress treats its workers like slaves.
The Congress tried to distance itself from the issue. Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh said that it is an issue between two individuals.
