Ajmer blast case: ATS may question RSS leader soon

Jaipur: RSS leader Indresh Kumar, whose name figures in the Ajmer blast chargesheet, may soon be questioned by the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), sources have told NDTV.

The ATS chargesheet claims the senior RSS functionary had presided over a meeting of all the key conspirators behind the 2007 Ajmer blast.

But the RSS has dismissed this as a political conspiracy. It insists that naming Indresh in the chargesheet is a political ploy to defame the Saffron family.

"If they have any evidence, why don't they produce it in court and prove their charges? Just levelling these fake allegations through the media and creating a false idea in people's minds is unfair," said former RSS chief, KC Sudarshan.

Hitting back at the RSS, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said Rajasthan is not like BJP-ruled Gujarat, where he claims the police are forced to concoct facts and stage fake encounters to please political masters.

"If the chargesheet has been filed and his name figures there, it's a well thought out action. It's not as if his name has cropped up without reason as the RSS is claiming. Our state is not like Gujarat where the police are influenced, cases are lodged and then scandals like the Sohrabuddin encounter happen where IPS officers get jailed," Gehlot said.

As its chargesheet provokes a political storm, the Rajasthan ATS is officially completely silent on this issue. But sources say action against Indresh is imminent and the RSS leader could well be called in for questioning within a few weeks.
