Lucknow: The foundation for UP government's ambitious Police Emergency Response System building was laid by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday, who said that response time of the police will reduce drastically when the integrated state-wide 'Dial 100' system comes into operation.

The chief minister also said that it will instill confidence among the people of the state.

The building, which will house the integrated 'Dial 100' system, is expected to come up by the end of next year.

"The scheme will enable the police to reach the scene of incident within 20 minutes in the rural area and the response time in urban areas will be 10 minutes in two-wheelers and 15 minutes in four-wheelers," Mr Yadav said.

The chief minister said that 'Dial 100' will come into operation within a year.

"This is the biggest project of the state as well as the country for modernisation of the police system and will commence within a year," the chief minister said.

He said that it will be looked upon as an example in the country. "With this scheme, people will have more confidence about their security," he said.

The chief minister said that police force is being provided with modern equipments so as to make it more strong and the process of recruitment in the force has also been simplified by his government.
