Lucknow:
For the first time in 5 years, the doors of the UP chief minister's residence, 5 Kalidas Marg in Lucknow, will be thrown open to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
This is a radical departure from the five years of no interaction of the chief minister with the people of Uttar Pradesh.
Every Wednesday from April 18, the doors of 5 Kalidas Marg will be opened to let in people who will march to the state capital with their problems hoping to get solutions.
These people will have an audience with their chief minister for at least two hours.
Akhilesh Yadav, who had promised a more responsive chief minister's office, seems to be finally delivering on that front.
Mayawati's reign was marked with a characteristic disconnect with the people of UP. Her only source of feedback were a coterie of close aides and bureaucrats who had pushed her into further isolation by creating a security cover. That cover was impregnable, and did not allow her to meet the people who had given her an absolute majority.
