Lucknow:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav is all set to make her political comeback. Today she will file her nomination for the Kannauj Lok Sabha by-polls.
The parliamentary constituency fell vacant after Mr Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha after he was sworn in as a member of the UP Legislative Council after becoming the Chief Minister.
Dimple was the unanimous choice of the Samajwadi Party's Parliamentary Board that had announced her name after an overwhelming number of party workers demanded that the she be chosen to contest from Kannauj.
Mr Yadav has represented Kannauj for three successive times in the Lok Sabha. In 2009, Akhilesh had contested from two parliamentary constituencies - Kannauj and Firozabad. He won both seats, but relinquished the Firozabad seat. His wife then contested the by-election from there. She lost to the Congress's Raj Babbar.
Interestingly, the Congress has decided not to field any candidate against Dimple. Even the BSP has so far not put out their party candidate's name. The BJP has however fielded a candidate from Kannauj.
Kannauj goes to the polls on June 24. There is just one day left for the nominations to be filed.
