Rahul Gandhi also said PM Modi had allowed Vijay Mallya to flee the country.
Jhansi:
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who was on his farmers outreach yatra in Uttar Pradesh, today lashed out at the Chief Minister and Prime Minister during his rally in Jhansi.
Mr Gandhi stated that the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's 'cycle' which is the Samajwadi Party's symbol, will not run in Uttar Pradesh anymore as it is stuck.
Amid his Kisan Yatra, Mr Gandhi said that Akhilesh Yadav was chosen by the electorate of the state and mostly the youth, as they had lots of hopes and expectations from him.
"But when Akhilesh (Yadav) sat on the cycle, people starting pulling the brakes and pushing the handles eventually puncturing the tyres and the cycle got stuck. Now six months are left and it has been stuck for almost four years. I don't think the cycle will run anymore," he stated.
Congress vice president also targeted Prime Minister Modi for "failing" to fulfil his poll promises and vowed to make him listen to the problems of farmers.
"Its been two and a half years now but Modiji has not been able to fulfil any of his poll promise...none of the bank accounts got the promised Rs 15 lakhs but Mallya was able to escape from the country," Mr Gandhi said while addressing a meeting of farmers at Mauraipur in Jhansi this evening.
The Congress vice president vowed that he will make the Prime Minister listen to the woes faced by farmers.
Exhorting party workers to span out to villages and collect the names of farmers, their addresses and loans in their names and send it all to him, Mr Gandhi said his party will draw the attention of the prime minister on this issue and also stage protests.
Congress party wants that farmers' loans are waived off, their power bills are cut by half and they get the right price of their produce, Rahul said adding that PM Modi has not done anything in farmers' interest so far.
"Though he has waived off loans of the capitalists, he has not done the same for farmers," he said.
