All About PM Modi's Obama-Style Townhall On Saturday: 10 Points
PM Narendra Modi will address an hour long session in a townhall on Saturday.

For an hour on Saturday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with citizens at an indoor stadium in Delhi in what has been described as his first Obama-style townhall.

Here's your 10-point guide on the big event

  1. PM Modi's session, scheduled between and 5 and 6 pm, is the showstopper in a day-long programme that will see top ministers also engage with people in sessions.

  2. The event marks two years of MyGov, the government's citizen engagement platform. A new app will be launched to allow mobile users to connect with website of the Prime Minister's Office.

  3. About 2000 people have been invited as audience, chosen for their engagement with MyGov. "They would be selected from among the regular users of MyGov, based on their ideas, level of engagement, questions and suggestions," said MyGov Chief Executive Officer Gaurav Dwivedi.

  4. The opening session at 10 am will be anchored by IT Minister Ravishankar Prasad and the sessions just before the Prime Minister speaks will feature Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

  5. The Prime Minister, Mr Dwivedi said, will talk about the concept of citizen engagement. Ministers will answer questions on the Government's working and performance.

  6. Fresh ideas will be invited for improving user experience on the MyGov website and introducing new features for the platform and a panel discussion on this will feature social media representatives, MyGov users, Members of Parliament who have contributed to MyGov, and senior government officials.

  7. There will be four sessions and panel discussions around the "Do, Discuss and Disseminate" theme before the Prime Minister's address.

  8. Winners of competitions held on MyGov have been invited for the town hall. PM Modi will give out awards to them.

  9. The MyGov portal was launched by PM Modi in 2014.

  10. MyGov.in had 3.53 million registered users as of Saturday morning and 3.4 million comments in 590 discussion threads. Its Twitter handle has 4,25,000 followers.
