All we saw were pools of blood: Dadar residents

Mr Sohoni points to cracks in walls due to blast

Mumbai: "There was a loud explosion and we felt tremors," said Ravindra Sohoni, a resident of Pandit Niwas building, which is right next to where the blast took place at Kabutar Khana, Dadar.

The blasts took place in three areas of south Mumbai near Kabutar Khana in Dadar (West), Zaveri Bazar and Opera House, the jewellery hubs of Mumbai.

The 68-year-old who lives with his wife Vaishali in the building recounts to MiD DAY their initial reactions to the explosion. "We have had a close shave with death and survived and we are grateful to God," said Sohoni.

The old couple was sitting at home watching television when suddenly a loud bang startled them. Curious to know, they rushed to their balcony to find out what had happened.

However, a large cloud of fog blocked their view. "We had to wait for a few seconds, before we could see what had happened," said Vaishali.

"All I could see was blood, limbs and other bystanders crying. People were lying in pools of blood. The images are etched in my memory," added Ravindra.

Explaining the impact of the blast, Ravindra added, "When I entered the house, the furniture in my house had move and there were distinct cracks in the walls of my house."
