New Delhi:
77 Indian nationals, allegedly mistreated by an Indian company in Sri Lanka, have returned after the government made arrangements for their immediate travel.
"All back in India. All workers involved in dispute with Indian company in Sri Lanka returned late last night & are heading to their homes," Official Spokesperson in External Affairs Minister Syed Akbaruddin tweeted yesterday.
The workers, mainly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, were working with a South India-based company dealing in steel.
On Monday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had taken "serious note" of complaints against the Indian company and directed the Indian mission in Colombo to make immediate arrangements for their return.
The government also is contemplating strict action against the erring company, according to government sources.
