Amritsar: A case of alleged sacrilege of Sikh holy book has been reported at Jahangir Gurdwara village on the outskirts of the city, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when some unidentified persons entered the Gurdwara and allegedly tore a few pages of the holy scripture, Station House Officer Kamboj, Shivdarshan Singh said.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons, he said, adding the culprits will be arrested soon.
The investigation in the matter is going on a war footing, Mr Singh added.
Punjab had witnessed many sacrilege incidents last year leading to widespread violence in the state. Two persons were killed in the incidents and many others injured.
