Patna: The new found friendship between RJD,JD(U) and Congress was reflected at an Iftar party hosted by RJD president Lalu Prasad in Patna with senior leaders of the three parties participating in it in large numbers.
Though former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not present as he is in Mumbai, his party leaders like ministers Shrawan Kumar, Shyam Rajak and Awdesh Kushwaha attended the Iftar hosted by Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi. Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhary was also present.
Congress leaders Harkhu Jha and Dilip Chaudhary were present at the Iftar held at 10 Circular Road residence of Rabri Devi.
Though all prominent leaders of BJP avoided the Iftar party hosted by Lalu Prasad, a senior leader of the party Satya Narayan Arya attended the function.
Mr Arya, eight-term MLA from Rajgir (SC) seat, has thrown his hat in the ring for Chief Ministership if BJP is voted to power in Bihar in the next election.
Senior party leader Sushil Kumar Modi, leader of opposition in Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav and senior MLA from Gaya Prem Kumar are counted among probables from BJP for the CM post.
Mr Prasad told reporters that this was not the occasion to talk politics and alliance "but be sure the three parties will contest Assembly bypoll together".
He said he would attend Iftar party hosted by Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi in the national capital tomorrow.
The RJD chief slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being "discourteous" by not attending the Iftar party organised by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Mr Prasad played a perfect host in the party where RJD leaders were present in large numbers.
