Jammu:
Criticising the decision of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to commence Amaranth Yatra from June 25, an outfit of sadhus on Friday asked the Board headed by Governor NN Vohra to reconsider the issue and vowed to commence the pilgrimage from June 4.
"We want that SASB and the Governor in particular should reconsider their decision and announce the Amarnath Yatra from Jyeshth Purnima, which is falling on June 4," Jammu and Kashmir Shatdarshan Sadhu Samaj president Mahant Mohan Bharti told reporters in Jammu.
"Sadhu Samaj shall start the yatra from Jyeshth Purnima on June 4 and the entire responsibility shall be solely of the Governor who is also the Chairman of SASB," he said.
Objecting to the "restricting" of the yatra, he claimed it was reduced to 55 days in 2010, 46 days in 2011 and to 39 days as announced by SASB for the year 2012.
"It is against the religious sentiments of Hindus at large," he said.
Various Hindu organisations including VHP are demanding that Amarnath Yatra should start from June 4.
