Ambani vs Ambani: Latest round

New Delhi:

After his weekend pilgrimage with mother Kokilaben, Anil Ambani is on a warpath again, turning the gas tussle into a public campaign. Front page ads are being released by him in newspapers everyday.

Tuesday's ad alleges: "At the stroke of a pen, and in a matter of days, the Petroleum Ministry has approved a shockingly disproportionate 400% hike in the project cost of Reliance's Industries' KG D6 gas fields, from Rs 12,000 crore to Rs 45,000 crore."

Mukesh Ambani and the oil ministry have decided not to openly react to Anil's hate campaign, but they are silently arming themselves with more and more ammunition to counter Anil's charges.

Anil's allegation on Mukesh's project cost has prompted the government to speed up a special audit of the expenses incurred by Reliance to develop these KG fields. Mukesh says he is open to scrutiny.

DTV has the copy of a letter written by Mukesh's Reliance Industries to the Oil Ministry, in which it states:

"We reiterate that we are transparent in our operations and book keeping. We have no objection to a special audit for KG fields by Comptroller and Auditor General as desired by the Government. "

Anil is raising questions publicly, Mukesh is giving answers silently. But the last word on this high-profile corporate war lies with the apex court.
