Mulayam Singh Yadav will meet his son Akhilesh Yadav over the tussle with uncle Shivpal Yadav
New Delhi:
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today left for Lucknow to meet senior party leaders amid a raging feud between his son Akhilesh Yadav, who is the chief minister, and his brother Shivpal Yadav.
Mulayam Singh Yadav was to leave for Lucknow tomorrow, but he decided to leave this morning itself, sources in Samajwadi Party said.
Party general secretary Ramgopal Yadav said today that Mulayam Singh Yadav will meet Akhilesh Yadav to work out a solution to the standoff.
"Everything will be resolved once netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and CM (Akhilesh Yadav) will talk.... He is coming to Lucknow," he said.
Yesterday, Mulayam Singh Yadav gave a patient hearing to Shivpal Yadav for four hours to get his side of the story.
Though both Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav have hardened their stands, the Samajwadi Party chief would ensure that the two take a step back so that the party and the government stop suffering due to the ongoing tussle which has become public just months before the assembly polls are due in the state.
In an open showdown on September 13, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav removed his uncle and Cabinet Minister Shivpal Yadav of key ministerial portfolios. This happened hours after Mulayam Singh Yadav replaced Akhilesh Yadav with Shivpal Yadav as Samajwadi Party's state unit chief.
