Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday underwent a minor surgery at a private hospital in Ahmedabad. The operation was for the removal of lipoma - a fatty lump most often situated between the skin and underlying muscle layer - from his neck.
The BJP president was later discharged, the party's central media department said in a statement.
"Amit Shah was admitted to K D Hospital in Ahmedabad around 9 am. He was successfully operated for lipoma at the back side of neck under local anesthesia. After this minor surgery, he has been discharged," the party statement said.
Earlier, local BJP leaders had said Mr Shah visited the hospital for a health check-up.
After being discharged around 12:30 pm, the Home Minister went to his residence located on SG Highway in the city, news agency PTI said.
Mr Shah, who landed at the city airport on Tuesday night, is on a day-long personal visit to Gujarat.
He is expected to leave for Delhi tomorrow.
