New Delhi:
Amul has created a new ad that's meant to be a tribute to J Dey, the investigative reporter who was shot in Mumbai on Saturday. The ad is in keeping with Amul's tradition of highlighting news controversies in its campaigns.
The image was posted by Mid-Day on their Twitter page. It was an instant hit with tributes pouring in from people condemning the brutal killing of the journalist.
Mr Dey, who had reported widely on the Mumbai underworld and the oil mafia, was killed as a result of "professional animosity" according to the Mumbai Police. He was killed by four men on two motorcycles while he was riding his two-wheeler through a crowded Mumbai surburb.
Today, the police said it has detained three people in connection with his murder. They were allegedly hired for contract-killing by the Chotta Shakeel gang. Mr Dey was planning an expose on the sandalwood mafia which would have hurt Dubai-based smuggler Zafar Kasim. Kasim is said to have approached Shakeel to organise Mr Dey's killing.
