Srinagar:
Two terrorists have been shot dead in an ongoing encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.
"Security personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police surrounded Shistargam village on Friday evening following information about a group of holed-up terrorists," a police officer said.
"As the cordon was tightened, the terrorists fired at the security forces triggering the gunfight," they added.
The security forces retaliated. After ensuring that the terrorists have been shot dead, they moved in cautiously to where the terrorists were hiding.
"Today morning two bodies of terrorists have been recovered along with two AK-47s, pistols, grenades and arms and ammunition. Efforts are on to identify the bodies. Operation concluded. Keep up the good work boys," Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid said.
