Kolkata:
Nobel laureate and world renowned economist Amartya Sen has said no industry would come to West Bengal given the present political situation.
He has urged all the political parties in the state to rethink their policies to improve West Bengal's industry and economy.
Dr Sen is critical of the Buddhadev Bhattacharya regime, and said the state is in anarchy. He said political stability is crucial for the state's economy to progress.
Professor Sen also wanted intellectuals, economists, political scientists and state politicians to think over this. "At this moment I don't see any of this happening, as a result I don't think the unemployment situation in the state will ease soon," he said.
He underlined the necessity of a plan for the state's economy. "Buddhadev Bhattacharya had thought about a plan. There were some short comings in it and I believe those were minor short comings but they acquired a major proportion. If you don't address minor problems properly and sufficiently discuss them with people they become major," he said.
Moreover, he also doubted the opposition role in improving industry and economy in state after coming to power. He said the opposition has not demonstrated any dissatisfaction yet with the anarchy in the state.
