Hyderabad:

A 16-year-old student was seen walking out of a classroom and jumping off the third floor in disturbing CCTV footage from a junior college in Andhra Pradesh today.

The student at Narayana College, Anantapur, walked out of the classroom at 10:15 am after taking off his slippers. Then he walked straight to the ledge, climbed it and jumped without a pause.

A video from the classroom shows the boy leaving the room when the class was ongoing. After he jumps, his classmates run out of the room to see what happened.

Police officer T Venkateshulu was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that the boy had just returned to college after holidays on Thursday morning.

The reason for the suicide is not known yet.

The student's father and activists have linked the death by suicide to unpaid fees.

The father alleged that he had told the college authorities he would pay the fees when he came to drop off his son.

"I think they asked him about the non-payment of fees. What exactly happened, I am not sure," said the grieving father. The college is yet to respond to the claim.
