In the backdrop of threatening calls to TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao and a letter warning that he would be killed in ten days, police have registered a case and is trying to trace the caller.
Based on a complaint lodged by TRS politburo member Shravan Kumar that Mr Rao was receiving threatening calls from a few cell phone numbers and a letter that threatened to kill him, the Banjara Hills police booked a case last evening, DCP (West Zone) V Satyanarayana said.
The case was registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of IPC.
"With regard to threatening calls we are trying to trace the caller through phone call details...the threatening letter is hand-written and we are working (investigating) on that," the DCP said.
The TRS on August 12 had said KCR had received a letter warning that he would be shot dead in 10 days.
In view of the threats, Andhra Pradesh police had earlier asked KCR to use his bullet proof vehicle.
