Guntur, Andhra Pradesh:
Ten people were killed and at least six severely injured in a blast at a house in Narayanapuram in Dachepalli area of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
The house belongs to B Koteswara Rao who had reportedly stored huge quantities of explosive material at his two-storey house. He holds the licence for dealing in explosive material but storing it at his home was illegal.
The house came down in the powerful blast so did at least half a dozen other houses in the vicinity. Rao, his wife and at least eight others in the neighbourhood were killed in the accident.
The blast had the police worried as this was known to be a Naxal area. The police has now said they will conduct raids to unearth all such illegal storage of explosive material.
