Hyderabad:
Stung by the two-day bandh called by Telangana Rashtriya Samiti or TRS across the Telangana region, the Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday withdrew the case that was filed against TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao on November 29 that resulted in his arrest.
The move came as KCR's fast entered its 8th day.
Earlier, TRS supporters went on the rampage in Hyderabad, many of them gathering right outside the hospital where their leader has been admitted.
Rao, who has been on fast-unto-death for eight days over statehood for Telangana, has said he will not call off his fast until he receives assurance from the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, there were reports of Andhra Pradesh Congress president D Srinivas meeting the TRS chief. A delegation of Congress ministers from Telangana region will visit Delhi on Monday.
The state authorities have deployed additional pickets of police personnel in sensitive areas in the wake of the bandh call.
There are reports that in light of the growing violent protests by TRS cadres, the Assembly session scheduled to start next week may be cut short. Hyderabad has been put on high alert.
TRS leader E Rajaendra has said that the bandh, which will continue through Sunday and Monday, is to support the fast launched by Rao.
