Andhra sports minister KV Reddy resigns

Andhra sports minister KV Reddy resigns
Hyderabad: It is a sign that the political crisis in Andhra Pradesh is deepening.

KV Reddy has become the first minister to resign from the Congress government over the Telangana issue. Reddy, who is from Nalgonda, was Andhra's Sports Minister.

On Thursday, close to 80 MLAs, all from Telangana but from different political parties, resigned. They're upset with the Centre's decision to put a new Telangana state on hold.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is leading the movement for a new state, has appealed to other ministers to resign as well.

For the Congress, the revolt within the party is becoming tougher to control. The party has 30 MLAs among the 80 who've quit on Thursday. The Speaker of the Andhra Assembly, however, insists there's no crisis because he has not accepted any resignations.
