Jammu and Kashmir: A group of angry Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans allegedly went on rampage inside their camp in Anantnag and beat up their officer following death of an ailing jawan who was allegedly denied permission to see a doctor.
The incident happened yesterday in the morning when dozens of jawans came out of their barracks and started protesting against the death of their colleague. According to sources, jawans alleged that their company commander didn't allow their colleague to see a doctor.
"...dozens of angry jawans then rushed and beat up the company commander," said an official.
He added, "For the whole day there was chaos in the camp and jawans were pacified only after senior CRPF officers assured them action against the officer who denied medical treatment to an ailing jawan," he said.
The CRPF have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Speaking to NDTV, Zulfikar Hassan, Inspector general of CRPF, said a high level probe has been ordered into the death of jawan and also indiscipline at CRPF camp. "It's painful that a young jawan in his 20s has died and investigation will look into all aspects why jawan was not provided proper treatment."
