New Delhi: On Thursday, there was anger outside one of Delhi's most well-known schools, Modern School in Vasant Vihar.
Angry parents have accused the school of negligence after the death of 17-year-old Akriti Bhatia, who died of an asthma attack in school two days ago.
A fight broke out between two groups of parents - one supporting the principal and the other supporting Akriti's family.
Some students got agitated alleging that the principal gave contradictory statements. Some of Akriti's classmates alleged that it was after 45 minutes of the asthma attack that Akriti was taken to hospital and no teacher accompanied her.
There were demands for the principal's resignation. Under pressure, the school said it will investigate whether there were lapses. But now, Delhi education minister Aravinder Singh Lovely has asked for an enquiry.
The school says there was no negligence, but the students had a different story to tell. They have accused the principle of lying, and that there was a delay in calling an ambulance.
One of the students who accompanied Akriti in the ambulance has asked why the nurse removed the oxygen mask and why the school did not have a doctor.
