New Delhi: Anna Hazare  has said that he will end his fast if his supporters resort to violence. Apologising to reporters in Jantar Mantar, the 75-year-old Gandhian said the media and activists must work together in the fight against corruption.

Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal today apologized for the scuffle that broke out between the Gandhian activist's supporters and mediapersons at Jantar Mantar yesterday. He also urged his supporters to be "nice to media."

"Please be nice to these media people. Don't misbehave with them. I apologise for what happened," he said at the fast venue today.

The apology came after the Broadcast Editors' Association (BEA) condemned the attack and demanded an immediate apology.

The incident took place at around 10 last night, when Team Anna supporters attacked mediapersons covering their hunger-strike. They hurled abuses and raised anti-media slogans after Shanti Bhushan, a key Team Anna member, alleged that the media was showing their protest in a negative way. He also urged them to boycott some channels.

"The Broadcast Editors' Association strongly condemns attack on media by Anna supporters. The BEA believes that this is an interference in the functioning of media. The media is discharging its legitimate duty of covering the agitation in a fair manner. The BEA seeks an immediate apology from Team Anna for the misbehaviour by its supporters," a press release by the BEA said yesterday.
