Anna Hazare has justified the protest by his supporters outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official residence yesterday as a reaction by the people who were angry at the government.
Around 50 supporters, including six women, took security personnel by surprise as they suddenly turned up to protest outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official residence, 7 Race Course Road. All were later detained.
"People are fed up and angry as they have been suffering for so long. We should think before taking any such step as it involves the country's prime minister," Mr Hazare told reporters before beginning his indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar.
Team Anna has alleged that the Prime Minister was directly responsible for giving away coal blocks to unknown companies at throwaway prices between 2006 and 2009 when he headed the coal ministry.
