Amritsar:
Social activist Anna Hazare will begin his 'Janatantra Yatra' from Amritsar on Sunday to garner support against the UPA government's policies and push for a strong Lokpal or anti-corruption bill.
Mr Hazare said today that he had written to political parties to join his yatra but none came forward.
Mr Hazare said that from Sunday, he and his activists will begin a series of public rallies. "The public needs to be awakened and organised on matters like the Jan Lokpal Bill. The country can witness a change only through a mass movement," he said.
"Only if all crusaders come on a single platform will the nation see change," he said.
Mr Hazare said people were "fed with the current lethargic system being run by corrupt politicians".
Mr Hazare said that after five months, a massive public rally will be organised at the Ramlila grounds in Delhi. In Punjab, he will address eight public rallies, beginning from Amritsar after paying tributes at the Jallianwalla Bagh.
