Anna in hospital, says don't worry, I am fine

Pune/New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who is suffering from a chest infection after he ended his fast for a strong lokpal Bill at the MMRDA Ground in Mumbai last Wednesday, has been advised by doctors to rest. Anna's ill-health has put his team's plans to campaign against the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections in the five-poll bound states in jeopardy.

Currently, Anna is on bed rest in a private hospital in Pune and doctors have warned him against fasting for a month. Recuperating from chest infection, Anna has reassured his supporters that his health is improving.

"People who thought I am very unwell, it is not like that. I am much better now," he told reporters.

"In a few days, I will be alright. Don't worry about me. I request all my countrymen and volunteers not to worry. My health is not that bad," said Anna from his hospital bed in Pune.

Doctors too are hopeful but have said it will be at least a week before he recovers.

"He is showing signs of improvement... he is being treated for chest infection and will require to remain in the hospital for at least a week," said Dr Parag Sancheti.

Key team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal has left for pune to meet Anna and decide their further course of action.

"I am going to meet Anna Ji. Core committee meeting would take place and then everything would be decided. Today I will talk to him. Pople are united for India against corruption," said Mr Kejriwal.

All meetings of the core group scheduled this week to discuss the team's future plans have been postponed indefinitely.

And as a prayer meeting was held in Delhi for Anna's health, the blame game has started.

"Members of his team are responsible for ill-health of Anna Hazare," said the RJD's Lalu Yadav.
