New Delhi: Horror for women continues in the state of Haryana. The Yamuna Nagar police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl.
The accused, identified as Gurnam Singh who was known to the victim allegedly offered the girl a lift in his car when she was on her way to visit her sister on Tuesday. "He told me he would drop me, but then he took me through some forest and made me sleep and then raped me," explains the victim.
Following a medical examination of the girl, a rape case was registered and the accused arrested.
Ironically the girl was raped on the same day that Congress President Sonia Gandhi visited a village in the state after another minor girl killed herself after being gangraped.
The series of rapes - 15 in the last one month now, have rocked Haryana and drawn severe criticism to the state government for not doing anything about this. Most of the rape victims have been dalits.
