New Delhi:
The government has intensified joint operations against Maoists along the Bengal-Jharkhand border, deploying more forces over a wider area.
These operations are being carried out by central forces and the state police for the last four to five days.
In West Bengal, anti-Maoist operations have been intensified in West Midnapore and Purulia districts, while in Jharkhand they've been stepped up in East and West Singhbhum.
It is after nearly two months that Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren has actually conceded to an anti-Naxal operation in his state.
More forces have been pressed into operation over a wider area this time. One additional battalion of the Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) is expected in Bengal within a week.
