Dantewada:
It's India's war within, the war against Naxalite terror and on Friday in a massive operation hundreds of jawans belonging to a dedicated anti-Naxal force took on Maoists in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
At least 30 Maoists are reported to have been killed but as many as 22 jawans are still missing in one of the biggest operation against the Maoists in recent times.
Over 800 jawans of the CoBRA force have surrounded over 200 Naxals in the Dantewada region. Operation Green Hunt is still on.
"Twenty two jawans are missing, eight bodies of Naxals recovered and an assistant commandant has also been killed," said Police Spokesperson.
The operation, a joint venture between the CoBRA force and state police began with the forces taking over an illegal arms manufacturing factory and Naxal camp near the forests near Singamadagu.
"Arms and ammunition from the spot have been recovered, including SLR gun and hand grenades," the Police Spokesperson further said.
In Chhattisgarh, extensive encounters against Naxals are planned and they come just days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said not enough is being done to deal with the Naxal threat.
