Army Chief's bribery claim: CBI questions Lieutenant General Tejinder Singh
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today questioned Lieutenant General Tejinder Singh in the case relating to the bribery allegations made by Army Chief General VK Singh. General VK Singh has accused Lt Gen Tejinder Singh of trying to bribe him to clear the purchase of "substandard" trucks for the Indian Army.

Lt Gen Tejinder Singh has claimed that allegations made against him in a March 5 press release issued by the Army are "completely false and concocted". He has also filed a defamation case against the Army Chief in a Delhi court; a matter which has been deferred till May 5.

One of those allegations against Lt Gen Tejinder Singh is that he offered General VK Singh Rs. 14 crore in bribe on behalf of a company called Vectra in 2010. The Army Chief had caused a stir when he made that allegation in an interview in March.

The case is being investigated by the CBI, and it has already recorded Gen Singh's statement.
