Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has ordered a magisterial probe into the alleged Army fake encounter case.

The J&K police have filed a case of abduction and murder against the Army for an encounter in which three people were killed on April 30.

The Army had claimed it killed three infiltrators and also recovered five AK47 rifles, ammunition and Pakistani currency from them.

But during the probe, J&K police found that the men killed by the Army were actually innocent civilians, who were reported missing from a village in Baramulla.

Their bodies were exhumed on Friday and handed over to their relatives.

The Army has said it will fully cooperate in the investigations and has assured of full transparency as it has nothing to hide.

Police allege that the youth from the village were lured for a job in the Army, after which they were sent to an Amy major, who took them to the Machil Sector and killed them in a fake encounter.

The inquiry will take some time since 4 Rajput, the unit mentioned in the controversy, has moved out of J&K.
