Three terrorists were killed today in a gun battle with the Army as it foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.
A group of infiltrators were intercepted by the security forces in the Nowgam sector as they were trying to cross over into India, said sources.
"As soon as the infiltrators crossed to this side of the LoC, they were challenged," said an Army official.
The operation is still on, said sources, adding that the Army suspects presence of more terrorists in the area.
This is the third infiltration attempt foiled by Army in the last two weeks.
Three soldiers and a terrorist were killed in a failed infiltration bid on May 25 in Tangdhar sector while four terrorists and a civilian were killed in the same area earlier this week.
