Srinagar: The Army today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
The troops noticed a group of terrorists trying to sneak into this side from across the LoC at Jumagund Nar in Keran sector, an Army officer said.
He said the troops challenged the terrorists who indulged in indiscriminate firing.
The troops returned the fire triggering an encounter, the officer said. He said the operation was going on and further details were awaited.
This is the second encounter between terrorists and army near the LoC in the district in the last 24 hours.
A soldier was killed and two others were injured in an overnight gunbattle in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara.
