Srinagar: Three militants were killed today as the Army foiled an infiltration bid near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tangdhar sector of Kashmir.

"The infiltration bid was foiled in the wee hours today as a group of heavily armed terrorists were crossing the LoC," an army official said. This is the second infiltration bid by militants in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district within a week.

Three militants have been killed while the operation is still in progress, the official said.

The bodies of the militants have been recovered along with three weapons.

"A contact was established with the heavily-armed militants at around 4.30 am, leading to day-long operation," he said.

Three soldiers and a militant were killed in a failed infiltration bid by militants on May 25.
