Srinagar: An Army jawan of 30 Rashtriya Rifles was today killed in an encounter with militants in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces launched a search operation in the forests in Kupwara this morning following information about presence of militants in the area, an Army official said.
Army Jawan Sahib Singh was killed in the initial exchange of firing between the security forces and militants.
"The operation is still in progress and further details are awaited," the Army official added.
