An Army jawan shot dead four of his colleagues, three jawans and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), inside their camp in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Thursday morning.
The incident happened in a Rashtriya Rifles unit Bijbehara in Anantnag.
One jawan was also injured during the incident.
The soldier reportedly had an altercation with his colleagues before he shot them.
This is the first fratricide incident in Kashmir in the last two years.
The army has ordered an investigation into the incident.
