Army not involved in Dilshan's murder: General VK Singh
New Delhi: General VK Singh today declared that the Army was not involved in the killing of 13-year-old Dilshan, who was shot dead inside an Army compound in Chennai. Despite Army Chief VK Singh's defence, CB-CID today questioned several Army officers. Sources say a Lieutenant Colonel has emerged as the main suspect after it was established that he lied about where he was when Dilshan was killed. He reportedly said he was not inside the cantonment but his cellphone records proved otherwise.

General VK Singh also asserted that an individual could be behind the shooting, adding, questioning was going on. However, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa blamed the Army for Dilshan's death.

"It is quite clear that someone from within the Army enclave shot at the boy and killed him," the Chief Minister said after landing in Delhi today. She said her government has asked the Army that "the person responsible for this unpardonable act should be handed over to our police to be dealt with according to the law."
