Faizabad: An officer of the Indian Army who had disappeared while travelling on a train from Bihar to Delhi on February 6 was found in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad, police said.

The 25-year-old Captain Shikhar Deep, posted in Jammu and Kashmir, was travelling from his hometown Katihar in Bihar to Delhi when he went missing.  A cousin who had gone to receive him at the Delhi station on February 7 found the young officer's luggage, phone and wallet.

A police official told IANS that the army officer walked into a police station in Faizabad on Saturday and introduced himself.

The father of Captain Shikhar Deep also confirmed that his son spoke to him on phone today morning.

According to the police, he was on board the Mahananda Express and had got off at the Patna station to pick up a bottle of water. He returned to his AC II tier coach and began frothing at the mouth.

He did not remember anything after that until he regained consciousness and found himself tied to a chair in a dark room, Captain Deep told police officials.

"I was in a dark place amid thick jungles, they would feed me porridge every day and speak very little to me," the officer said.

He said he managed to escape from the place after breaking the window and saw railway tracks after walking a few kilometers.

He boarded the Kamakhya Express which was standing there and reached Faizabad. After noting the details, the police officials handed the officer over to the army.

Captain Deep's family lives in Kathihar in Bihar. His father Colonel Lieutenant Anant Kumar is posted in Ranchi where his battalion - 623 EME - is now stationed.
