Satyapal Malik will take oath as Bihar governor at 10 am today

Patna: As he arrived at the Jay Prakash Narayan Airport in Patna on Tuesday, new Bihar Governor Satyapal Malik broke protocol and hugged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, who had come to receive the new administrator.

Mr Malik was seen embracing Mr Kumar after the chief minister presented him a bouquet, and then Mr Modi.  

Mr Malik is a former parliamentarian and BJP's national vice President. He was elected as governor in September this year after the post fell vacant as Ram Nath Kovind was elected as President of India in July.

The Bihar governor was given guard of honour on his arrival after a brief ceremony at the state hanger following which he headed for the Raj Bhavan. 

Senior cabinet ministers Nand Kishore Yadav, Prem Kumar, Krishnandan Varma and Maheshwar Hazari were among those who welcomed Mr Malik and presented him with flowers along with assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

Mr Malik, who would be the 38th governor of the state, is schedule to take oath as Bihar governor at 10 am today.
