Nationalism Is The Driving Force Of BJP, Says Arun Jaitley: Highlights

New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is addressing media on what was discussed at the two-day BJP's National executive meet that ends today.

• Discussed upcoming elections and emphasis on rural areas in this year's Union budget
• There was uncertainty and lack of purpose earlier
• That was replaced by the government with the agenda of good governance, infrastructural development
• We are in the favour of freedom of expression. The freedom of speech and the feeling of nationalism co-exist
• We are in the support of dissent and disagreement. The Constitution gives the freedom of dissent but not the destruction of the nation

• There is no reference of the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir in the resolution
• We stand fully committed to the agenda of governance
• Debate on the anti-national slogans in JNU: It is unfair to say that the minority leaders have come up and supported it
• The Congress has lowered its level of ambition
• The Congress is quite content to become the tail of the alliance
• As far as Assam is concerned, we have formed an alliance and we are the leader of that alliance
• There is a deep division in the Congress in Uttarakhand. It should not be attributed to the BJP
•  I do agree that there should not be any harassment on the name of excise
• When we are preparing for the GST, the luxury goods should be under the taxation system
• People in India as far as the slogan (Bharat Mata Ki Jai) is concerned should not have any difficulty. The best example you saw was at Eden Gardens yesterday.
