Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke in the Parliament today over the Aircel-Maxis deal. Here are the highlights of his statement:
- We believe in absolute probity.
- If in any scam, any person found connected or cornered, no one will be spared.
- We have no holy cows to protect.
- Government is going to the root of each of these cases.
- Whatever was the stand of earlier government, we have not been influenced.
- Chargesheets have already been filed.
- The case will proceed to trial.
- ED has powers under PMLA.
- On Jan 8, 2016 a chargesheet or complaint has been field in court by ED.
- On Feb 27 Court has taken cognisance.
- Notice has gone to various accused.
- Who will be tried in Aircel-Maxis case is for court to decide.
- In both cases CBI and in this case ED has taken all action as far as law is concerned.
- I can tell this House, as a result of those searches which has been conducted in a series of raids.
- A lot of incriminating evidence has been seized.
- As far as cases are concerned, both ED and IT department under respective law, there is no provision of filing FIR.
- If case made under FEMA it will hold adjudication proceedings.
- All I can say is whatever action is to be taken under law, will be taken.
- These investigations will be taken to their logical conclusion.
- Nobody will be spared.
