New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting took place at Parliament House during which Ms Banerjee introduced several of her party's lawmakers to the Delhi Chief Minister.
The meeting assumes significance in the run up to Assembly polls scheduled next year in West Bengal. The two leaders have met in the past and have both protested against what they claimed was Centre's interference in the working of state governments.
They had also backed JD-U leader Nitish Kumar as he led the grand alliance against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently-concluded Bihar polls.
Incidentally, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien had questioned Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi over the latter's attack on a "democratically-elected leader" in the wake of a row here.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been at odds with Delhi Police amidst claims by the ruling party that it is being targeted by the force.
