Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's visit to Delhi and his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi's visit to Delhi inspired a jibe from Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Thursday. Mr Jakhar -- a party veteran who keeps a low profile, pressed the "like" button to Arvind Kejriwal's two-day visit to Punjab ahead of next year's assembly elections -- in the guise of a cryptic comment.
Pointing out that the Punjab Chief Minister is in Delhi, Mr Jakhar tweeted, "Punjab CM in Delhi, Delhi CM in Punjab, yet again! Must say, at least one of them has got his timing right". Mr Kejriwal responded with a smile icon.
Mr Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been reaping the benefits of the deep crisis within the Congress.
In his current visit, Mr Kejriwal is expected to focus on the farmers whose support will be pivotal to the state elections. After having a party meeting, he is expected to meet the farmers and traders in Bhatinda and Mansa.
Mr Channi, on the other hand, met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
Reports say at Rahul Gandhi's home in Delhi, the Congress discussed the upcoming strategy for the Punjab election.
The meeting came after former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announced that he will form a new political party that will field candidates on all 117 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in 2022.
The meeting lasted more than two hours.
